The Charles River Challenge
Press Notices
The Charles River Challenge (CRC) is a not-for-profit, Olympic time-trial triathlon celebrating
the city of Cambridge, the Charles River, open spaces and healthy living.
This first-in-the-nation (and hopefully first of many!) green and sustainable triathlon, slated for 2010,
will quickly become the region's premier annual event to swim the revitalized waters of the Charles River,
bike and run along its tree-lined banks.
The CRC is open to everyone from school-aged children to professional athletes, with a projected cut-off
registration of 2500 participants. The CRC welcomes individuals or relay teams, so even if you run like the wind
but swim like a minnow, there's a place for everyone! A highly anticipated "Beanpot" is also available to the University
team (hailing from anywhere in the globe) posting the best overall time.
Monies raised through the CRC are being primarily granted to the Cambridge Community Foundation, with a special
interest towards Emergency Services & Youth Services, and the Charles River Conservancy
with Dave McGillivray (Director of the Boston Marathon) and DMSE, Inc.to work with us to oversee the operational and logistical
aspects of the Charles River Challenge.
We are currently seeking sponsorships and welcome any other communication.
This website will be fully renovated and functional by summer's end - 2008
